Fast Food, Alcohol, & Cigarettes by Delvyn Crawford
Fast food, alcohol, and cigarettes have to be good for you! I mean... every company that sells these products have some of the most alluring, eye catching, attractive, and most striking people that I've ever seen advertising for them. I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but one can't help notice the smooth skin, white teeth, and toned physique that these people exemplify on posters, billboards, and commercials. In fact, I don't know what's all the hoopla and commotion that these "DOCTORS" pronounce about fast food; and why cigarettes and alcohol are mandated by "LAW", to put those "SURGEON GENERAL WARNINGS" on their products!
Who cares about "HEART DISEASE", "HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE", "KIDNEY FAILURE," "DIABETES", "OBESITY", "CANCER", and getting "ADDICTED" to these products anyway? If you're young, it just may be worth taking the risk; don't you think? Just the other day, I observed a poster of a guy holding a fifth of liquor with gorgeous women all around him. What man wouldn't want that attention, I thought. The poster had me convinced that it was "THE LIQUOR" that brought the women around, not him! Similar to "KELIS" Milkshake bringing all "THE BOYS" to the yard, and the "Axe Body Spray" that men "PURPOSELY" put on, to have women of every ethnicity "FLOCKING" to them.
When I considered eating "FAST FOOD", drinking "ALCOHOL", and smoking "CIGARETTES", something profound was brought to my attention. Through a trusted source, I was informed that these companies are masters of deception. I couldn't believe it! What was more interesting, was that a lot of these companies search for people who are appealing; that's "TYPICALLY" in dire need of money. Conscious about their "DIFFICULT" circumstances, and fully aware that they would do just about "ANYTHING" to obtain money and notoriety; due to the fact that "MOST" of them come from poverty stricken backgrounds, these companies "EXPOSE" them to sell their "HARMFUL" products.
Surprisingly, these companies admitted that they wasn't oppose to advertising with people that frequently use, and overindulge in their products. The problem they emphasized, however, was that "THOSE" people are either unavailable or unqualified to advertise, because some of them are on respirators, in hospitals, or look older than what they really are. With that said... I guess I won't be eating "FAST FOOD", drinking "ALCOHOL", and smoking "CIGARETTES" after all. If I did, it wouldn't be because of those ads!

This article is well written and gives food for thought. I watched my uncle die, emphysema, addicted to cigarettes and alcohol, beer, miller ponies. He was on OXYGEN, could barely speak, STILL smoking. He either could not kick the habit or realized his condition was so bad that he continued to committ suicide. I am not sure which. However, an addiction is an addiction. Whether it be drugs, alcohol or sex. The government and states are putting a lot of emphasis to stop smoking and that is a GREAT thing but why only penalized those people. I submit to you they need to close some McDonalds and Dunkin donuts. Obesity is just as bad and causes a lot of other fatal disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Which is the greater evil?

Cassandra... I would like to thank you for your comment, along with sharing that information regarding your uncle. My condolences go out to you, as well others who've loved and knew your uncle.
Unfortunately, like you mentioned, there are a lot of companies that sell products that causes fatal diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, and etc. It’s mindboggling to know that these companies make millions off of our expense! It's funny... Just this afternoon I was speaking with Nakia D. Hood about obesity, and how I didn't understand how people could let themselves get to a point that they can't even walk. At first, he thought that my statement was a little bizarre, and judgmental; but after further explaining myself, he understood where I was coming from. What he did emphasize, however, (which got me to look at things in a different light), was that many people let themselves go, due to the struggles of "LIFE". He mentioned that "LIFE" was like subscriptions... we all have issues. For some, the issues of “LIFE” have driven them to excessively drink. For another, the issues of “LIFE” have caused them to over eat. For another, the issues of life has caused them to be a smoker, and etc. He pointed out to me that a person that's obese might not necessary struggle with alcoholism. And a person with alcoholism might not necessary struggle with being obese. When he pointed this out, it made me think about how I dealt with my issues. Although I might walk to the lakefront to clear my mind, read the Word, or pray; I’m still dealing with my issues in one way or another. I say all that to say this... Businesses, corporations, and people in general have capitalized on our weaknesses; by providing products that's "DETERIMENTAL" to our health. They con us to believe that these products will make us feel better; when in actuality it ultimately destroys our health! Since we all have different issues, and deal with those issues in different ways, we have to uplift, encourage, and motivate one another in love, truth, and action. For a lack of knowledge, people are destroyed, so let’s provide that knowledge to those that need it. Thanks again for sharing!

I liked your article, it is very informative and well written. Appreciate the fact that you have shared your won opinion with us. Agree with you when say that many of the smokers and alcohol drinkers don't care about how dangerous it is for their health as long as they see it in advertising campaigns and believe that smoking and drinking does everything for them. I hope people will realize someday that we are the ones who attract the other next to us not alcohol or cigarettes.
